C’River North: Gov Ayade ‘ll Suffer Defeat In 2023 – Senator Jarigbe

  Senator representing Cross River North senatorial district at the upper chamber of National Assembly on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has vowed to defeat the Cross River State governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the senatorial election in 2023, Prof. Ben Ayade. Jarigbe spoke during the just-concluded one-million-man march organised by supporters of the federal lawmaker in Ogoja LGA of the State ahead of the forthcoming 2023 general elections. JUST-IN: Katsina’s Longest-serving SSG, Mustapha Inuwa, Defects To PDP

  The immediate-past Secretary to the Katsina State Government (SSG) under the incumbent Governor Aminu Bello Masari, Dr Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, has announced his defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Inuwa is also a former Commissioner for Education in the State. Inuwa, who is the longest-serving SSG in the State, made this known at his campaign office in Katsina on Sunday after meeting with hundreds of his supporters and groups, who were chanting songs of solidarity on his capacity and ability to shape the politics of the State. NDE Trains 50 School Leavers In Kebbi

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Kebbi State has commenced  training of 50 unemployed school leavers on “Quick fix demand driven” and techno cultural craft skills. Speaking while declaring the training open yesterday in Birnin Kebbi, the director general of NDE, Malam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, said the combined trainings, quick fix and techno cultural craft were introduced by the directorate to assist youths to acquire marketable skills within a short period. Fikpo, who was represented by the state coordinator of NDE, Mr. Francis Amos Ambionto, said the 50 trainees would be engaged in quick fix demand driven skills of make-up, bead making and saloon and  another sets as well as techno cultural skills on mats, bed and hart making. Dangote, Kogi Have Agreed To Reopen Obajana Cement Plant– Federal Govt

The federal government has said an agreement has been reached between the Kogi State government and Dangote Group to reopen the Obajana Cement Plant. Minister of police affairs, Mohammed Dingyadi, disclosed this to State House correspondents after the National Security Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja yesterday. According to him, an agreement has been reached to ensure the re-opening of the plant to give room for peace in the state. “Government is committed to the provision of employment to its citizens rather than closing factories that will make people unemployed and we do hope that the parties involved will respect this agreement and come to terms with the memorandum of understanding signed by the parties involved,” he said. Residents Of 3 Kwara Communities Desert Homes Over Kidnapping

Following incessant cases of kidnapping, residents of three communities in Alagbado area of Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, have fled their homes. The communities which have been under intense attacks by kidnappers in recent times are Aseyori, Alubarika and Aleniboro phase II and phase III; all situated behind the popular Sobi Specialist Hospital, Alagbado, Okelele, Ilorin. Village Head Urges Reconstruction Of Zungeru-Wushishi Road

The village head of Zungeru, Alhaji Tanko Madaki, has called for the reconstruction of the Zungeru -Wushishi road. He said in an interview that the road serves as an alternative from the South West through Niger South,  but considering the deplorable state it could become a death trap for travelers. He noted that Zungeru -Wushishi and the bridges along the road were constructed during the colonial era and now require the attention of government considering its importance as an alternative route. The village head also stressed the need for the state government to rehabilitate the Zungeru-Minna road to ease the transportation of goods and services between Minna and Zungeru. Rico Swavey: Hospital Absolves Staff Of Filming Patient, Fingers Deceased’s Friend

The management of Doren Specialist Hospital located at Sangotedo area of Ajah in Lagos, has distanced its staff from unethical filming of a patient, Ibrahim Fakoya, popularly known as Rico Swavey, who was admitted at the facility after a car accident on Tuesday.   Swavey was a housemate in the 2018 edition of Nigeria’s most popular reality TV show, BBNaija.   The hospital, which received the accident victim into their facility, in a statement on Friday, denied involvement in making the video of the unconscious Rico Swavey, which went viral on social media and attracted condemnations. ‘No Worker Is Owed Salary In Bauchi’

The Bauchi State Senior Civil Servants Association has said that the Governor Bala Mohammed administration was not owing workers’ salaries. The chairman of the Association, Abdullahi Hassan, made the clarification during a press briefing in Bauchi. Hassan debunked rumours about unpaid salaries, noting that civil servants in the state were grateful for prompt payment. “Workers in Bauchi are not owed salaries for even a single month; all salaries are paid promptly and diligently. “But it is usual for disgruntled elements to pretend not to see anything good in government efforts no matter how well intended. These are people with negative mindsets and are found everywhere,” he said. 2023 Census: NPC Inspects RLG’s Nigeria Factory For Local Content

Court Clears Ex-Jigawa Gov, Saminu Turaki, Of N8.3bn Fraud Allegation

  Aftee 15 years of litigation, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has lost a case against a former Jigawa State governor, Ibrahim Saminu Turaki, over alleged N8.3billion fraud. This followed a judgment delivered by Federal Higher Court sitting in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, which discharged and acquitted Turaki of all 33 count charges filed against him by EFCC. Delivering the judgment on Thursday, the trial judge, Justice Hassan Dikko cleared the accused and three other companies of all the 33 count charges bordering on alleged N8.3 billion fraud. The court also directed the EFCC to release the traveling documents of the Turaki, which was seized during the trial. It will be recalled that EFCC arrested and arraigned Saminu Turaki before Federal High Court Abuja in 2007 over alleged corruption and embezzlemennt of public funds to the tune of N8.3 billion belonging to the Jigawa State government. GIZ-SEDIN Empowers 30,000 Nigerian Students With Entrepreneurial Skills

The Pro-poor Growth and Promotion of Employment in Nigeria Programme- SEDIN, implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) has trained and empowered over 30,000 secondary school students across Nigeria with basic entrepreneurship skills. The extra-curricular Students Entrepreneurship Activity – Hub (SEA-Hub) established in 342 secondary schools nationwide is running in the FCT and 10 states (Niger, Ogun, Plateau, Edo, Lagos, Yobe, Kaduna, Delta, Imo, Osun) and 64 LGAs across six geopolitical zones of the country.
