Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Dr Kingsley Ononogbu, has said the party would provide competence-based and sincere leadership in the state if it wins the 2023 governorship election.
Ononogbu stated this yesterday while speaking to newsmen after hosting the party’s candidates in the state to a meeting in his country home in Amaedukwu Nkpa in Bende local government area of the state.
“Our focus is to rescue and develop the state after 24 years of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) painful misrule highlighted by infrastructure decay, high unemployment and poor quality service delivery,” he said.
He said the essence of the meeting, which came on the heels of the party’s town hall/ stakeholders meeting and consultations across the 24 constituencies of the state was aimed at preparing the party for the campaigns.
On the acceptability and capacity of the candidates for the governorship and the state House of Assembly, Ononogbu argued that the APC could not have selected better choices than them.
The chairman lauded the House of Representatives deputy chief whip, Hon Nkeiruka Onyejeocha and the Abia central candidate, Hon Emeka Atuma, for “sharing their experiences on how to win an election and protect the result.”
Speaking to LEADERSHIP, a member of the state House of Assembly for Arochukwu state constituency, Hon Mike Ukoha described the meeting as timely, adding that “we have been further energised and focused for the electoral battle ahead.”
